Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was expected for doubts to be raised about his future after a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the team's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received plenty of backing from management,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

Slot highlighted known shortcomings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a period like this with results so bad.”

He stated, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to its rightful place, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
