Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a significant and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel. Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the US has remained silent. Airspace Engagements In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace. In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region. Operation "Truthful Promise 4" Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning. That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the government. Regional Fallout In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage. The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles". "UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued. It said missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some material damage and killing a civilian. The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
